The Holy Spirit as a Rushing Wind
I am so excited about the up coming Easter season. If not for Jesus dying and rising from the dead, them we would not a reason for reading this blog. I apologize for the delay in posting this blog, there has been much happening in the Lord. The beauty in serving the Lord Jesus Christ is in the knowledge that comes from the fact that He gives us His Spirit for guidance and strength. The breath of God was breathed into the nostrils of the man he made from the clay of the earth and life was given to him. So it is when the Spirit or breath of God is breathed into us when we receive Him as Lord and Savior. He comes to us as a gentle breeze or a rushing wind. Keep in mind, even in the storms, He controls the winds, will calm your spirit, and give you focus and strength. Amen! ——- John
The Holy Spirit as a Rushing Wind
When the Day of Pentecost had fully come, they were all with one accord in one place. And suddenly there came a sound from heaven, as of a rushing mighty wind, and it filled the whole house where they were sitting. (Acts 2:1-2 NKJV)
The Holy Spirit has always been a point of question for all people. Jesus told Nicodemus that the Spirit is like the wind. It blows here and blows there but you do not know from where it comes or to the place it goes. Look at our life in general. We take for granted many things, for example, breathing. Until you struggle to breathe or you see a loved one who is on life support and cannot breathe without it, there is no understanding. But, we live with breath every moment of every day. So it is with the Holy Spirit. The knowledge of the Holy Spirit is sparse at best. It is confined primarily to scriptures. This is where most religious beliefs find their “proof.” Even in scripture, the Holy Spirit is found to be minimal. But the evidence of the is immense throughout scripture, in the Old and New Testaments. The beauty of the Holy Spirit is the fact that HE is a person found on equal ground within the Trinity.
The church has taught in many circles that the work of the Holy Spirit was only relevant until the church began. This is far from true. The Holy Spirit is just as relevant today, in any church setting, as He was at the formation of the church for two thousand years. The people of the Christian church do not appreciate the fact that He is the Spirit of God and that the His Spirit is given to them. Jesus told the disciples that when He goes to be with the Father, He will send another comforter who will be with you and in you. Many fear the Holy Spirit as an apparition or poltergeist that will possess you apart from your will. The Holy Spirit is the Loving and Compassionate Spirit of a Holy God. The God who created you, wants a relationship with you. Why would God want to possess and control you beyond your control? The Holy Spirit is given for guidance and strength. God is given this as a great and precious gift. Receive Him and allow the Holy Spirit to build you spiritually into the person God created you to be.
That which is born of the flesh is flesh, and that which is born of the Spirit is spirit. Do not marvel that I said to you, ‘You must be born again.’ The wind blows where it wishes, and you hear the sound of it, but cannot tell where it comes from and where it goes. So is everyone who is born of the Spirit.” (John 3:6-8 NKJV)
When Jesus spoke to Nicodemus concerning the Spirit of God, he is not unfamiliar with the concept. The Pharisees were more accepting of the notion of Holy Spirit than were the Sadducees. Jesus was speaking to the idea of the Holy Spirit in terms of the New Birth. Nicodemus’ concern was with the idea of rebirth. How is this possible? But, Jesus then said that they are two separate births. He said that which is born of the flesh is flesh and that which is born of the Spirit is Spirit. As we give our lives to the Lord and are reborn as a new creation in Christ, we receive a portion of the Holy Spirit. You don’t need to be a member of a special congregation or elite denomination to have or experience the power of the Holy Spirit. He is gift to all who choose to follow Him. This is the great deception of the church today! Just as the wind is a guide, the Spirit of God goes where it needs to go, so it is with those who are born of the Spirit of God.
The Spirit of God just don’t jump into a person random and of no account. The person must truly yield themselves to Jesus Christ as their Savior and Lord and desire to serve Him with all their heart. The Spirit is a person of the Trinity along with the Father and the Son. To me, it is an incredible privilege for us to be given the opportunity to have a relationship with the Father and the Son. But, the Father has sent his Spirit for us. The Holy Spirit guides us along as the wind blows and opens a wealth of knowledge and wisdom into the true purpose for which God designed everything. So, when we are reborn in Christ Jesus, then we are born in the Spirit of God.
And they were all filled with the Holy Spirit and began to speak with other tongues, as the Spirit gave them utterance. (Acts 2:4 NKJV)
The greatest gift we could ever receive from God the Father is His Son and His Spirit. The beauty of it all is that the Holy Spirit cleanses and guides us into all righteousness for His name’s sake. The key found in this verse is in the beginning, “And they were all filled with the Holy Spirit.” This says that the Holy Spirit is available to everybody who receives Him and the Son. The wind served in this event of God as a cleansing wind. The wind blew through the place at which they were praying, for the Spirit of God is also the breath of God. The church today needs to take these teachings and live their lives as if our every breath is God’s breath and believe. We need to walk in the beauty of His majesty and grace. We must be willing to take His Spirit, His wind or breath and live every moment in His Will. As you are standing outside in the early morning, on a beautiful and crisp day, with the wind lightly blowing, take in a deep breath and realize that you are given a new day in the Lord and live it with the power and authority of the Holy Spirit.
Let Us Pray:
Heavenly Father, You alone are worthy of praise and honor. You, oh Lord, are the very breath that I breathe and my life. Empower me to do Your Will through the power of Your Holy Spirit. Your Will be done in this day as I serve You in Spirit and Truth. In Jesus’ Precious and Holy name, Amen.
Is that really all there is to it because that’d be fletsargabbing.
